Security personnel, staff carrying out final arrangements for PM’s Aidilfitri open house

PUTRAJAYA, June 4 (Bernama) – Security personnel and those involved in Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Aidilfitri open house are busy carrying out final arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the event tomorrow.

This is the first time the public will get to meet and greet Dr Mahathir and cabinet ministers in person at Seri Perdana in Precinct 10 here since Pakatan Harapan came into power following the 14th general election in May last year.

Last year, crowds were seen mingling only at Laman Sari within the Seri Perdana compound. However, this year, the preparations are better organised with marquees for dining and for visitors to easily enter in an orderly manner.

This is the second time that the open house is being organised by the Pakatan Harapan government.

Bernama found that officers from the protocol division of the Prime Minister’s Department, catering staff, Alam Flora workers, decorators and security personnel were busy carrying out their respective tasks.

Over 10 catering companies will be in charge of serving a variety of food and beverages to about 50,000 visitors who are expected to arrive between 10 am and 4.30pm.

Also seen at the Seri Perdana premises were several trucks from various suppliers and the caterers.

There were also Alam Flora vehicles with its workers placing garbage bins in several spots.

Among the dishes that would be served tomorrow are lemang, rendang, briyani rice, fried kuey teow, rojak, murtabak, various festives cakes and sweets, satay and laksa.

Visitors can use the free bus service to the open house, available from 9.30am at three locations – Putrajaya Sentral, Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque and Masjid Putra at every 15 to 20 minute intervals.
