KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 2018 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today tabled the Mid-Term Review of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP – 2016-2020) in the Dewan Rakyat.
Dr Mahathir, clad in a blue lounge suit, was accompanied by PKR president-elect and Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as he arrived at Parliament House at 3.50 pm.
The motion on the 11MP Mid-Term Review was tabled when the Dewan Rakyat resumed sitting at 4 pm after a break.
The tabling of the review, before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Yusof, was carried live by several television and radio stations.
The review incorporates the implementation of new policies and improved existing policies with the primary focus on infrastructure development for the benefit of the people.
The 11MP, which has two more years of the period remaining, is the final five-year development plan (2016-2020) towards realising the goal of Vision 2020.
The tabling of the mid-term review of a development plan is the first by the new Pakatan Harapan government which took over from the Barisan Nasional government of over 60 years after the 14th general election on May 9.
However, it is not the first for Dr Mahathir who has become the seventh prime minister at the age of 93. Dr Mahathir was prime minister for the first time from 1981 to 2003.
The last time that Dr Mahathir tabled a mid-term of a development plan in the Dewan Rakyat was on Oct 31, 2003, which was the 8th Malaysia Plan. It was his last official duty as the prime minister.
