NILAI, Dec 22 2010 (Bernama) -- Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia has established cooperation with Al Mawhibbah King Abdul Aziz University in Riyadh to improve its Permata Insan programme and obtain international recognition, the Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said on Wednesday.

"Through this cooperation, the Al Tayyibah Madinah University has helped us in developing the curriculum, particularly in the areas of Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah (sayings and examples of the Prophet)," she said.

USIM and Al Mawhibbah will sign a memorandum of understanding on this cooperation on Jan 10 next year in Riyadh, she added during a visit to the Permata Insan Camp 2010 at USIM here.

Also present was USIM vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Muhamad Muda.

Rosmah, who is chairman of working committee for coordinating the Permata programme, is expected to witness the signing because she is due in Riyadh to deliver a keynote address at the International Conference of Total Quality Management in K-12 Education on Jan 9.

Rosmah said: "The Permata Insan programme is expected to produce good human beings who will become knowledgeable and intelligent people in various fields in line with the demand of the Quran for us to learn and study the course of nature."

Forty-eight eight-year-old pupils out of 9,000 nationwide were selected to take part in the camp from Dec 11 to 25 after passing two tests.
