Oration Competition Increases Potential Of Malaysian Children, Says Rosmah | 03/12/2010

SERDANG, Dec 3 2010 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, stressed the importance of developing public speaking skills en route to being a leader.

She believed that the Malaysian Children's Oration Competition had made an impact in helping to develop young people's leadership skills.

"We have big dreams of seeing speakers in the competition make up the future line-up of leaders and build a culture of charm, sincerity, courage and transparency," she said.

Her speech at the presentation of the Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak trophy to winners of the Malaysian Children's Oration Competition 2010 at Universiti Putra Malaysia here was read out by Malaysian Children Hope Foundation Board Adviser Datuk Atikah Adom.

Nurul Anis Amral from Sekolah Kebangsaan Bayan Lepas in Penang won in the Bahasa Malaysia category while Arathi Jeyaratnam from Sekolah Kebangsaan Marian Convent Ipoh in Perak was first in the English section. Both are 12.

Each winner received RM1,000, a challenge trophy, a computer and other prizes.
