Strong Family Bonding Ensures Better Future For Children - Rosmah | 27/11/2010

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 2010 (Bernama) -- Strong family bonding was crucial to build a better future for the children, said the prime minister's wife.

In addition, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said, parents should help their children become more motivated and confident, while encouraging them to have positive values.

"The success of a child depends on the encouragement and motivation from the parents," she said at the Maybank Story Telling Contest which emphasised on the concept of 1Malaysia here.

The event was held in conjunction with the two-day Star Kids Fair 2010 which kicked off Saturday.

On families assisting their children and sibilings in the story-telling contest, Rosmah said good family bonding was what the goverment encouraged.

Twenty children, aged between seven and 12, took part in the contest which was aimed at promoting true values of the 1Malaysia concept among the young generation.

The grand prixe winner stands to bag RM10,000, followed by second prize winner (RM7,000) and RM5,000 for the third prize.

Earlier, Rosmah spent time with the children to read them a specially-written story, titled 'A Story for the Children of 1Malaysia', produced by Maybank to promote the true values of 1Malaysia.
