Rosmah To Ask For Places For Poor Malaysians At Asian University For Women | 20/11/2010
Untitled document KUALA SELANGOR, Nov 20 2010 -- The Prime Minister's Wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said she would ask for places at the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh for poor Malaysian students.

"Insya Allah (God-willing), if there is a chance, I will try to place four or five women of modest means in the university," she said after the convocation ceremony at Universiti Industri Selangor here.

"This will enable them to exchange views with the other students and get to know different cultures," she added.

The Asian University for Women was set up three years ago and takes in students from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Palestine and Vietnam, among others.

Rosmah has been invited to speak on education for women at an international conference to be held at the university next year.

The invitation was passed on to her by Cherie Blair, wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, when she called on her at Putrajaya recently.

Rosmah said she had also been invited to talk on Teaching Competency in Management and Education in Riyadh this January.

Before that, she will be going to Chen Zen in China next month to talk on the role of women in development, she said.
