Bakti Fetes 300 Needy People At Aidiladha, Deepavali Event | 18/11/2010
Untitled document PETALING JAYA, Nov 18 2010 -- The Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) Thursday feted 300 orphans, the elderly and disabled at an event in conjunction with Aidiladha and Deepavali at a hotel in Subang Jaya near here.

The Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is Bakti president, handed over RM125,000 in donations to 25 welfare homes at the event.

Among the homes, each of which received RM5,000, were Rumah Kebajikan Karunai Illam; Tara Foundation; Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah; Malaysian Mental Health Association; Down's Syndrome Association of Malaysia; Yayasan Bestari; Rumah Penyayang Tun Abdul Razak Pekan, Pahang; Persatuan India Muar, Johor; Pusat Dakwah Jeli, Kelantan; and Chik Sin Thong, Pahang.

The orphans, elderly and disabled were given souvenirs, got to taste various traditional food and were entertained to song and dance performances.

Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, wife of the deputy prime minister, and Bakti honorary member Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali also attended the event.
