Untitled document PUTRAJAYA, Oct 27 2010 (Bernama) -- The Indian Prime Minister's wife, Gursharan Kaur, on Wednesday made a one-hour visit to the Permata Negara Centre in Precint 16, here.

She was accompanied by Malaysian first lady Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and members of the Permata Negara Working Committee.

Rosmah, who is patron of the Permata Negara Programme, gave a briefing on the centre's direction and operations which catered for children aged between one and four.

The visitors also spent time meeting the 41 children cared for by the centre since it opened in March.

Gursharan, who is accompanying her husband Dr Manmohan Singh in an official three-day visit to Malaysia since yesterday, is also scheduled to attend a meet-and-greet session and luncheon with members of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) at the Bakti Siti Hasmah Building, Kuala Lumpur.

The Permata Negara Programme is an initiative by Rosmah emphasising on planned and integrated childcare and early education methods which will become a primary contributor towards the country's human capital development.
