First Ladies Visit Permata Negara Centre | 13/10/2010

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 13 2010 (Bernama) -- Participants of the First Ladies Summit 2010 made a one-hour visit to the Permata Negara Centre at Precinct 16, here Wednesday.

The delegation arrived at 4.30pm accompanied by the Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is the summit's patron.

Rosmah, who is also patron of the Permata Negara programme, was seen playing with the children as well as briefing the ladies on operations of the centre which catered to children aged below four years.

Also present during the visit were Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her deputy, Heng Seai Kie.

The inaugural summit of first ladies themed "A child today, a leader tomorrow", which ends Wednesday, issued a declaration which will be brought to the United Nations (UN).

The summit was participated by 15 first ladies including Teuta Topi from Albania, Ernestina Naadu Mills (Ghana), Mariama Mane Sanha (Guinea Bissau) and Lorna Golding (Jamaica), in addition to six representatives of first ladies and 20 ministers.

The National Permata Negara Programme is Rosmah's initiative to emphasise on planned and integrated childcare and early education methods which will become a primary contributor towards the country's human capital development.
