KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 2010 (Bernama) -- Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah Tuesday attended a tea reception with a delegation of First Ladies at Istana Negara, here.

The Queen also held conversations with all the First Ladies present at the function held in conjunction with the inaugural First Ladies Summit. Among them were Sriranthi Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka), Thandiwe Banda (Zambia) and Sia Nyama Koroma (Sierra Leone).

Also present were the Malaysian prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is the patron of the summit, and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

The three-day summit is attended by 15 First Ladies, six representatives of First Ladies and 20 ministers.

Themed "A Child Today, A Leader Tomorrow", the First Ladies Summit 2010 focuses on ways in which families, communities and governments can work together to uncover the potential in every child.

Tonight, the First Ladies and their delegations will be entertained to a cultural show at Istana Budaya.
