First Ladies Summit Continues | 12/10/2010

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 2010 (Bernama) -- The inaugural First Ladies Summit continued here Tuesday, with an opening keynote address by the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Fifteen first ladies are attending the summit themed, 'A Child Today, a Leader Tomorrow'.

Also attending are six representatives of first ladies and 20 ministers.

The opening address, scheduled at 10am, will be held at the Palace of Golden Horses, Seri Kembangan, near here, followed by a panel conversation to be moderated by the British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) Mishal Husain.

The panel conversations involve five first ladies, namely Ernestina Naadu Mills, of Ghana; Lorna Golding (Jamaica); Nyama Koroma (Sierra Leone); Mercedes Lugo De Maidana (Paraguay); and, Thandiwe Banda (Zambia).

The First Ladies Summit 2010, initiated and hosted by Rosmah, focuses on ways in which families, communities and governments can work together to uncover the potential in every child.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak officiated the Summit at Seri Perdana Monday night.

Among the programmes scheduled for the first ladies today are an audience and high tea with Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah at Istana Negara and cultural performance at the Istana Budaya.
