Nurseries At Workplace Can Help Produce High-Quality Human Capital, Says Rosmah | 16/08/2010

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 16 2010 (Bernama) -- The setting up of a child-care centres or nurseries at the workplace can help produce high-quality and holistic human capital, the prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said Monday.

She said this was because the nurseries would enable parents to spend more time with their children, besides ensuring the quality of work of female workers because they could now enjoy peace of mind as they knew their children were near.

"If their children are sick and far from the workplace, the mothers would worry and could not concentrate on their jobs, and thus, affect their productivity.

"So, all mothers should put pressure on their employers to set up child-care centres or a nurseries at their workplaces," she told reporters at Seri Perdana here Monday.

She said employers should also provide skilled and certified teachers and nannies at the child-care centres.

Rosmah, who is the patron of the Permata Negara programme, said they were willing to cooperate with any quarters who were planning to set up Permata nurseries at their workplace.

Earlier, Rosmah also launched a competition to design a Chinese mosque and cultural complex for the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (Macma).

The competition is organised by Macma and the Malaysian Architect's Association and is open to its corporate members, beginning today until Oct 1.

The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of RM90,000 and the winning design would be use to materialise the mosque on a 1.8ha site in Jalan Davis, Kuala Lumpur.
