KOTA KINABALU, June 28 2010 (Bernama) -- Come July 18, Sabah will have reason to stand proud when a galleria is opened to showcase the history, background and success stories of its women.

Located on the first and second floor of Wisma Wanita, the Women Galleria will be opened by the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

State community development and consumer affairs minister Datuk Azizah Dun said Monday that Sabah women were indeed, proud over the setting up of the galleria.

She told a press conference that among the exhibitions at the galleria involved the history of the Sabah Women Advisory Council, women achievers in various fields and the background of several women-related non-governmental organisations in the state.

She said the galleria would be open to public as an information or referral centre.

The five-storey Wisma Wanita is built on a 1.9ha site at the 3.5km Jalan Tuaran where the Sabah Women Affairs Department has been operating since May last year.

The RM18.7 million building comprises a service centre, children's recreational area, banquet hall and meeting rooms and business outlets.

In conjunction with the opening of the galleria, a carnival would be held on July 17 and 18.
