KOTA KINABALU, June 21 2010 (Bernama) -- The prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, is expected to officially open Wisma Wanita, here, on July 18.

She will be accompanied by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, said state Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun.

"We expect about 5,000 people to be present at the ceremony at Wisma Wanita located at Batu 2.5, Jalan Tuaran, here," she said at the launching of the Wisma Wanita's customer service centre and children's recreational area Monday.

The RM16 million building, which was completed last year, houses the Sabah Women's Affairs Department (JHEWA) and three other main components which are the spa and craft centre, office block and a multi-purpose hall.

Azizah said the customer service centre, established in April, functioned as a reference centre for women to get the help they needed, as well as a registration centre for single mothers.

"It provides guidance and advice to women and family members on matters such as marriage, divorce, alimony, child custody and other social problems," she said, adding that they had handled 92 cases until May this year.

Meanwhile, the children's area named 'Dunia Kanak-Kanak@WW' (Children's World@WW) is to make things easier for mothers who bring their children to Wisma Wanita.

Today's event also saw the launch of JHEWA's first logo since it was established in 1988.

"The use of the logo is timely because with our own building, the department now has a need for branding," said Azizah.
