Permata Negara Identifying Site For Centre In Hulu Selangor | 04/05/2010

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 2010 (Bernama) -- Permata Negara has sent its staff to Hulu Selangor to identify a suitable site or building to set up a centre there as promised, the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said Tuesday.

She said it was a bit difficult to get the land because they had to get permission from the state government but if they could not get the land they would buy a house, as had been done in Kuching, to set up the Permata Negara centre.

Speaking to reporters after launching the Permata Perkeso kindergarten at Menara Perkeso here, she said they would not spend much to buy a house or building, only about RM500,000.

She also expressed the hope that more private companies and government agencies in the country would provide child care centres at their offices.

Permata Negara was ever willing to help and cooperate if they wanted to use its curriculum at child care centres like the one at the Permata Perkeso kindergarten, she said.

"I also constantly call on employers in my speeches to provide a women-friendly environment for their women workers," she said.

She said Permata Negara was working with various government agencies to raise the status of not only kindergartens but also teachers and care-takers of early childhood education centres.
