PM, Wife To Make Two-day Vist To Sibu From May 1 | 29/04/2010
Untitled document SIBU, April 29 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, are scheduled to make a two-day visit here beginning May 1.

Sibu Division Resident Sim Kok Kee said today Najib and Rosmah would arrive at about 10pm and the prime minister would meet with local Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.

He told reporters that the following day Najib would visit Sungai Merah town nearby and mingle with the people before addressing them.

The town is the first entry point in Sarawak where the Chinese Foochow immigrants to Sibu arrived in January 1901.

Sim said Najib would also visit Kampung Nangka for a meet-the-people session at the Malay Union Club.

Then, he would go to the Ninth Brigade camp in Ulu Oya Road for lunch with the soldiers and present military awards to retired personnel.

"The next programme is a visit to the Sibu Golf Club where he will officiate at a prize presentation ceremony for a local tournament.

"After a short rest, the prime minister will visit the Laila-Taib College at the Old Airport Road to present scholarships to some students," he said.

Sim said Najib would also visit the site of the new St Mary's Primary School building at Awang Ramly Amit Road, one of the many education development initiatives of the late Sibu Member of Parliament Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew, the federal deputy transport minister who died on April 9. The school building is one of Lau's unfulfilled dreams.

Sim said Najib would address a meet-the-people session at the Sibu Town Square in the evening before returning to Kuala Lumpur.
