BAKTI Members Fly Home Via Dubai As Europe Airports Remain Closed | 18/04/2010
Untitled document NEW YORK, April 18 2010 (Bernama) -- BAKTI members comprising wives of ministers and deputy ministers, who were travelling home via Europe, have to reschedule their flight home as most airports in the continent remain closed due to lingering volcanic ash from Iceland.

The group, which arrived here Thursday, after visiting a children handicapped centre and a youth high-risk centre in Washington last week, was relief after being informed Saturday that they would fly home with Emirates Airlines via Dubai Sunday afternoon.

They were supposed to travel with Malaysia Airlines via Europe Saturday night.

The group attended the Women International Forum's "First Ladies Speak" at the United Nations Saturday where wife of the prime minister, Datin Rosmah Mansor gave a speech.

Members of the entourage were present at St Regis Hotel Friday night when Rosmah received the International Peace and Harmony Award from United States (US) Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).

The flights of government officials and media personnel, who were accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for a one-week visit to the United States, were also affected.
