Permata Seni Muzik run by Istana Budaya is targeted at children who excelled at playing musical instruments like violin, viola, cello and piano.

She said 35 children picked after a test in Sept and Oct would train for one year and attend Kem Permata Muzik during school holidays.

"I hope that Permata Seni Koir dan Muzik can create children choir and music groups for the international stage," she added.

Meanwhile, Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the ministry would step up culture and arts programmes in schools.
