PEOPLE'S SATISFACTION A KPI BENCHMARK - NAJIB

PUTRAJAYA, May 4 2009 (Bernama) -- The people's interest should be given priority in achieving the Key Performance Index (KPI) among civil servants and members of the government's administration, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.

Speaking at the Prime Minister's Department's monthly gathering at the Perdana Putra Complex here, Najib said, the KPI was not only to measure the performance among civil servants but also how far they could fulfill the wishes of the people.

"Members of the administration and civil servants should take pride in their work.

"We should realise that apart from what we have already set out to achieve, the ultimate benchmark in measuring the KPI is the people. On the whole, we should be able to satisfy the people," he said.

The prime minister said that the KPI also served as a guideline and reminder to members of the administration on the importance of giving priority to the people.

"We should keep in mind that the ultimate KPI benchmark is the people's satisfaction... whether they are satisfied with our service, whether we have solved their problems and so on," he said.

He also said that it was important to nurture the culture of innovation and creativity among the people.

"The people and country will benefit tremendously if we can inculcate the culture of creativity, innovation and productivity.

"I hope that we can work to fulfil the people's aspirations because if they are satisfied with our services, they the will continue with the government," he said.
