KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 2012 (Bernama) -- The National Transformation Programmes (GTP) carried out by the government adopts the 'islah' (reconstruction) concept in the march towards a developed country, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The prime minister said the 'islah' approach was instrumental in changing the country from a low-income agricultural economy to a medium-income industrialised economy.
"Now, we have taken the 'islah' stride, and uphold our vision of becoming a high-income developed country, God willing," he said in his message in conjunction with the Nuzul al-Quran 1433 Hijrah in his blog, 1malaysia.com.my today.
He hoped with the blessing of the Nuzul Quran, Allah would unite the hearts of Muslims in the country in protecting and strengthening the Islamic agenda as a way of 'islah' and the transformation of the country.
The Nuzul al-Quran is a comprehensive and miraculous guide for mankind in leading a religious and worldly life, he said.
He said by abiding to the importance of the Quran, the government placed the Quran as an important 'mauduk' (theme) in the Islamic education system.
The Quran is taught in primary and secondary schools through the Quran and Fardhu Ain (Kafa) class and the Jawi, Quran, Arabic and Fardhu Ain (j-Qaf) class in a comprehensive manner, he said.
